23nd Annual Harper County 4th of July at the Anthony Lake
Dear Harper County 4th of July Supporters

Fourth of July is on its way, which means the sky will light up with fireworks as we salute and honor our Nations birthday.
Help us celebrate our heritage at this traditional fireworks show on Independence Night at the Anthony Lake.  All throughout
July 3 and 4, there will be plenty to do at the Anthony Lake. The fun starts on July 3 where you can begin enjoying an old-
fashioned Fourth of July with “The Goons” kicking off with their annual concert at the lake. Karaoke and local talent will be
featured on the 4th before the evening entertainment.
For the 23rd year, the Harper County 4th of July committee has begun planning the annual Celebration for Harper County.  This year we are adding a theme to the festivities, “Freedom Celebration”.  We are pleased to say that plans are shaping  up for just as big a celebration as we had last year. We anticipate as many participants in this year’s activities as we have had over the past years.

WE are planning to have some of the old favorites such “The Goons”, inflatable’s, scavenger hunt, Coed Sand Volleyball,
Firecracker Run/Walk, which is sponsored by Anthony Community Care Center, fishing contest, digital  scavenger hunt and new this year the marshmallow game.

Our evening entertainment is The Jimmy Lee Jordan Band. Unlike many groups, they don’t just play music, they put
on a show for their fans to keep them coming back for more. This is one Country/Red Dirt/Southern Rock Band you can’t
afford to miss in action! Jimmy Lee Jordan, originally from North Carolina, has been performing on stages, small or large,
around Oklahoma and the surrounding areas for most of his life. As a retired US Air Force veteran, he proudly served our
country while donating his “off duty” time to performing for the troops in several foreign countries during his 20+ years of
military service. Armed with a passion for music and the experience to back it up, Jimmy Lee formed what is known today
as The Jimmy Lee Jordan Band with musicians that have shared the stage with regional/national artists such as Trick Pony,
Blues Traveler, Phil Vassar, Heartland, Terri Clark and Ricochet to name a few.

Your Harper County 4th of July Committee is dedicated to planning and working cooperatively to put on the best 4th of      July
event in south central Kansas including one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the state. However, this cannot be accomplished without your financial support.  We “thank you” for your support of the past year’s and ask for your support
for the Harper County 4th of July “Freedom Celebration”.

You won’t want to forget that those purchasing buttons during the 4th of July will be eligible for some great prizes in the
evening drawing.
We hope that you will continue to support the 4th of July fireworks and activities at the same level as in the past, and if possible, with an increase. We are hoping to see enough support from everyone within the county to continue having a great fireworks display like we have had in the past and that everyone is accustom to seeing and enjoying.

Things to keep in mind:

ó  This event is FREE to attend but is not free to put on. We couldn’t do it without your generous contributions!
We “Thank You” for your help!

ó  To be listed on the advertising we need to have your sponsorship by June 10.

ó  More activities this year along with more participants;

ó  Urgent need to send support as time is getting close for final fireworks purchase!

ó  Supporting this event is a county wide effort!

ó  Attendees come from miles around to celebrate with us!

ó  Only 400 Buttons will be sold for the chance to win some great prizes in the evening drawing.

The 4th of July Committee thanks you for supporting our efforts to present this county-wide Celebration; bringing
a family oriented fun day at the lake, providing a spectacular evening of entertainment filled with music and the
brilliant fireworks that we have come to be known for in South Central Kansas.

Please find enclosed the information page about how you can help with this year’s event. We thank you in
